# Reach Metrics

Estimated Reach and Potential Reach — the two reach metrics aclipp calculates from your clippings

aclipp has two built-in reach metrics.

- **Estimated Reach** — people likely _reached_ per clipping, summed across clippings.
- **Potential Reach** — outlet audience size attached to each clipping.

## Estimated Reach

Picks the first available field per clipping:

1. **Views** (YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, Twitter, Twitch)
2. **Likes** — fallback for Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest
3. **Unique Visitors** (Online)
4. **Reach** (TV, Print)

Summed across clippings. Overlap between outlets isn't corrected, so it's an upper bound.

## Potential Reach

Reads the outlet's audience field:

| Channel | Field |
| --------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------- |
| YouTube, Newsletter | Subscribers |
| Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, TikTok, Twitch | Followers |
| Online | Monthly visitors |
| Print | Reach |
| TV | Viewers |
| Podcast | Monthly listeners |

Potential Reach totals add the outlet audience for each clipping in the selected set. If two clippings come from the same outlet, that outlet's audience can contribute twice to aggregate totals.

<Callout title="Grouped charts may de-duplicate within a group">
Some grouped chart views avoid counting the same outlet more than once inside
one visual group. Aggregate totals and summaries count Potential Reach per
  clipping.
