Methodology and limits

Data collection

From October 1, 2026 to October 31, 2026 we asked 238 questions every day: 86 about Germany, 72 about Austria and 80 about Switzerland. We asked ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode and Microsoft Copilot, each located in the country in question. Data was collected with aclipp AI Visibility.

Questions

Questions without a city make up the country rankings: general recommendations, disciplines such as crisis or public affairs, industries, and company size and stage. The city questions cover 31 cities and make up the city rankings. The question set has the same structure in all three countries and stays the same from month to month as long as the method does not change.

Data

16,234 answers analysed, 12,037 of them in the country rankings and 4,197 for the city questions.

Analysis

We detect agencies automatically by their name and the spelling variants we maintain for each one. Agency names that are also everyday words are checked separately. Brands of one company are combined, for example Burson and BCW or Farner and Team Farner. Directories, associations, media and rankings do not count as agencies.

Metrics

Visibility is the share of answers that name an agency. Each of the four AI services counts equally. The DACH value is the mean of the three country values. Position is the order in which an agency is named in an answer.

Comparison

The index is published monthly with the same method. Risers and fallers show the change against the previous month. Questions and AI services changed compared with wave 1 from September 2026, so the comparison with wave 1 is only indicative.

Limitations

AI answers depend on wording, location and day. Other questions would give other results. Copilot often answers with local business listings and ratings, so it names smaller agencies in the capitals more often. Visibility says nothing about an agency's quality, size or client satisfaction.
