Outlets

How media sources are managed across your organization

An outlet is a specific media source, like "Spiegel Online", "TechCrunch", or a YouTube channel. Every clipping is linked to an outlet, which belongs to a channel (Online, Print, YouTube, etc.).

Organization-level#

Outlets are shared across your entire organization, not scoped to a single project. This means all projects within your organization share the same outlet data. When an outlet's metrics are updated, the change is reflected everywhere.

Automatic creation#

Outlets are automatically created when you add clippings. If aclipp's AI detects a source that doesn't exist yet, it creates the outlet and fills in available data like name, URL, profile image, and channel-specific metrics (followers, subscribers, monthly visitors, etc.).

You can also create outlets manually from the Outlets page.

Auto-fill from URL#

When creating or editing an outlet, you can paste a URL and click the search button next to the URL field to automatically fetch outlet data from the source. aclipp will pull in available information like name, profile image, and channel-specific metrics (subscribers, followers, monthly visitors, etc.).

The channel is also automatically detected from the URL. For example, pasting a YouTube link will switch the channel to YouTube, even if you started with a different channel selected.

Supported sources include YouTube, Instagram, X (Twitter), Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat, Twitch, and general websites.

Managing outlets#

In the Outlets page, you can:

  • View all outlets and their metrics (followers, subscribers, circulation, etc.).
  • Edit outlet details like name, country, or channel.
  • Refresh data to pull the latest metrics from the source.
  • Merge duplicate outlets if the same source was captured with slightly different names.

Outlet metrics by channel#

Each channel tracks different outlet-level metrics. For example, a YouTube outlet has subscribers, an Online outlet has monthly visitors, and a Print outlet has circulation and page price.
