Website Audit
Check whether AI assistants can reach, read and quote your website
View as MarkdownAn AI assistant can only repeat what it can fetch, parse and trust. Website Audit checks a website the way those crawlers do and reports what is getting in the way, in plain language and in the technical detail whoever fixes it will need.
Running an audit#
- Open a project and go to AI Visibility > Website Audit.
- Enter the domain you want checked. Domains tracked in the project are offered as suggestions, but the field takes any address.
- Choose Start audit. Discovery, fetching and scoring take a few minutes, and the page shows which stage is running.
A project keeps one audit. Pointing it at a different address replaces the previous one, and Re-run checks the same address again once something has been fixed.
Reading the report#
The readiness score runs from 0 to 100 and counts each check once, weighted by how much it matters. Checks that cannot be evaluated are left out of the calculation entirely, so missing evidence neither helps nor hurts. Alongside it you get a score per category and the number of pages the audit read.
A few failures block everything behind them. If AI crawlers cannot reach the site at all, the rest of the checks say little, so the score stays capped until that is fixed and the report says so.
Every finding comes twice: a plain-language explanation of why it matters, and the technical detail with the concrete fix. Page-level findings list examples of the pages affected.
What gets checked#
Access is whether the crawlers behind AI answers can reach the site, whether the text is present without JavaScript, whether pages are indexable, and whether pages that allow themselves to be found also allow the short excerpt an answer quotes.
Structure is titles and descriptions, canonical addresses, heading order, structured data, hreflang and the sitemap: the things that let a machine state what a page is rather than infer it.
Signals is what makes a page worth quoting: a visible publication date, recent publishing activity, about and contact pages, and a press or news section.
What it does not do#
Website Audit reads a website. It does not change one, and fixing a finding does not automatically make a brand more visible in AI answers: it removes a reason the brand could not be quoted. Track the effect through your prompts and their cited sources.
