AI Visibility Index: Which PR agencies ChatGPT and co. recommend in Germany, Austria and Switzerland

Anyone looking for a PR agency today also asks ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude. Nobody had systematically measured which agencies they name. We did, and we publish the results as the AI visibility index of PR agencies.

From 6 to 22 September 2026 we asked six AI providers 96 questions every day, from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The 7,797 answers name 2,234 different agencies.

Key results

• Three countries, three favourites. In Germany the AI providers name fischerAppelt in 36.7 percent of answers, in Austria ikp in 50.2 percent, in Switzerland Team Farner in 51.4 percent.
• Specialists beat the big names. For 11 of 17 topic questions in Germany, the leader is an agency outside the overall top 10.
• AI gives a shortlist, not a recommendation. Only 4.4 percent of answers put one agency explicitly above all others.
• Directories shape the answers. Sortlist is linked as a source in one answer in five.

Visibility is the share of answers about a country that name an agency. It counts the 4,875 answers to questions without a city.
