Mynewsdesk Alternatives 2026: PR and Newsroom Tools Compared
Compare Mynewsdesk alternatives by distribution reach, newsroom features, monitoring channels per country, reporting depth, and published pricing.

Mynewsdesk has been at this since 2003. Founded in Sweden and owned by the Norwegian DN Media Group since 2008, it reports more than 4,000 customer organisations and around a million journalists with access to the platform. The product combines a branded newsroom, press release distribution, journalist matching and media monitoring in one subscription, which is a genuinely useful shape for a communications team that publishes regularly.
It is also a product where the plan you buy decides what you get, more sharply than the marketing suggests. Essential starts at €220 a month, or €219 on the German price page, and includes four press releases a year, monitoring for one brand, a newsroom in one market, basic analytics and three months of history. Four releases a year is a distribution allowance, not a software limit. A team publishing monthly uses the fourth one in April.
The German pricing page is more forthcoming than the English one, which is worth knowing before a sales call. It lists PR-Software from €583 a month and Media Monitoring from €200 a month, while the English plans page shows both as price on request. If you are quoted something different, you now have a published figure to point at.
The monitoring detail worth reading twice
Mynewsdesk's monitoring page puts 230,000 or more sources across 222 countries behind news sites, blogs, forums and social media, with sentiment analysis and share of voice in the Brand Report. Podcasts, radio, TV, paywalled content and print sit in a different category.
The English plan matrix marks paywalls as available in Sweden, print in Norway, and audio and video in Norway and Sweden. The German product FAQ is blunter: asked about podcasts, radio, TV, paywalled content and print, it answers "Momentan leider noch nicht." That is not a criticism of a Swedish company with Nordic strength, but it does mean the channel list on the product page and the channel list a German or Austrian customer can buy are different lists. Ask for your own country's availability in writing.
What to check in a Mynewsdesk alternative
- How many releases do you actually publish a year? Usually the biggest cost driver here, and the easiest thing to get wrong in either direction.
- Is the newsroom hosted or on your domain? SEO value and control differ, and so does what happens when you cancel.
- Which monitoring channels apply in your country? Not the global feature list. Yours.
- Does distribution actually reach your market's newsrooms? For DACH, put a platform's own network side by side with news aktuell and ots before you assume either one covers it.
- Is the reporting good enough for whoever signs off on it? Take an automated brand report to that person before you renew, and see whether it answers their questions.
- What does an extra market or brand cost? Multi-market newsrooms sit on the higher plan, and the step up is steep.

The seven alternatives in detail
1. aclipp: best when the reporting has outgrown the brand report
Mynewsdesk's automated Brand Report covers sentiment and share of voice on a fixed template. Whether that is enough depends on who reads it, so check it against what your board, your client or your group communications lead actually asks for.
aclipp covers only that half. There is no newsroom and no distribution. Coverage arrives through built-in online monitoring or through integrations with Landau Media, OBSERVER, Argus, Meltwater and Talkwalker, plus RSS and Google Alerts, then feeds custom KPIs, dashboards and white-label PDF reports, with PowerPoint export for eligible organisations. Metrics stay editable, so reach and media value are figures you set rather than numbers you have to defend.
PR Analytics is €99 per month billed annually and standard plans include unlimited internal users from the same email domain, though users outside your domain may incur additional charges. Keeping Mynewsdesk for publishing and moving the measurement is a sensible split. Whether it costs less than upgrading to the higher plan depends on your quote, since that plan is priced on request, so compare aclipp's published figure against what Mynewsdesk offers you.
AI visibility is part of the same picture. aclipp tracks how brands appear in AI answers across eight providers, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Grok and Mistral, selectable per project, and reports them in the same dashboards and reports as earned media. It is a separate product from €49 per month billed annually. See AI Visibility.
Best fit: teams whose deliverable is a report, not a press release.
2. Prezly: best for a newsroom and contacts with published prices
Prezly covers much of the same ground, minus the distribution network, and it publishes its prices. Essential is €100 per month billed annually, Standard €250, and the product covers branded newsrooms, contacts, campaigns and coverage reporting that links coverage back to the journalist, outlet and story that produced it.
Two details change the comparison. Essential includes one user and Standard two, with extra seats and agency plans quoted separately. And monitoring covering online news, X and LinkedIn is a paid per-monitor add-on after a 14-day trial rather than an inclusion, so the all-in-one comparison against Mynewsdesk is not quite like for like.
Compare Prezly and its alternatives
Best fit: brands whose owned newsroom is the centre of the programme.
3. pr.co: best for several languages and markets
pr.co sells Start, Scale and Enterprise with 1, 3 and 5 users and 1,000, 10,000 and 50,000 contacts. Multi-language and multi-market newsrooms are the strength, which matters if Mynewsdesk's one-market Essential newsroom is what you keep bumping into.
Media monitoring is a paid add-on rather than an included feature. Price it in before comparing against a Mynewsdesk plan that includes monitoring.
Best fit: international teams publishing in several languages.
4. Presspage: best for enterprise newsrooms, at enterprise money
Presspage is the option when the newsroom has to satisfy a brand team, a legal review and several country units. It publishes its floor, which most enterprise vendors do not: Business from €20,000 a year and Enterprise from €35,000, both quoted on top of that depending on setup. Business includes one newsroom, unlimited email campaigns capped at 1,000 recipients a month and a native statistics dashboard; Enterprise lifts the recipient cap and adds integrated analytics.
That is roughly seven times Mynewsdesk Essential at the entry point, so this is a different budget conversation rather than a swap. Shortlist it only if publishing governance across markets is a genuine constraint.
Best fit: large organisations with a formal approval chain around every release.
5. news aktuell and ots: best for DACH newsroom delivery
If the reason you pay Mynewsdesk is reach into German-speaking newsrooms, compare the distribution against the DACH wire services rather than against another platform. news aktuell delivers releases directly into newsroom systems and publishes them through Presseportal, with German, DACH, specialist and regional circuits.
It is priced per release, from €515 for a German text release up to 300 words, which makes the arithmetic straightforward. Keeping Essential for a full year costs €2,640 at €220 a month, and Essential is monthly and cancelable, so a team that publishes in bursts can pay for fewer months. Four German releases through news aktuell start around €2,060 and reach a different set of newsrooms. Neither includes the other's features, but the comparison is worth doing before you renew.
Best fit: DACH teams whose goal is newsroom pickup rather than an owned newsroom.
6. Semrush AI PR Toolkit: best if you pitch more than you publish
The former Prowly is the alternative for teams who realise they are not really a publishing operation. It sells a global media database, AI-assisted pitching, email analytics, online monitoring and dashboards, with published prices: Base $149 per month billed annually, Pro $279, Business $499, and extra users at $20 each.
Base includes no monitoring. Pro adds online monitoring with 3,000 mentions a month. The whole line is online-first, so print and broadcast are outside it, the same limitation Mynewsdesk has outside the Nordics.
Compare Prowly and its alternatives
Best fit: teams whose results come from pitching journalists directly.
7. Brand24, OBSERVER and Landau Media: best for monitoring alone
If you would keep Mynewsdesk for the newsroom and buy monitoring elsewhere, the split depends on channels. Brand24 covers online and social mentions with published pricing from $199 a month billed annually and an AI Visibility add-on. For print, broadcast and licensed German-language press reviews, OBSERVER and Landau Media are the specialists, both quoted individually and both integrating with aclipp.
OBSERVER also runs a press centre for distributing releases and contacting media in DACH, so it can cover part of the distribution question too.
Best fit: teams who want to unbundle publishing from monitoring.
Which alternative fits your situation?
| Your situation | Suitable shortlist |
|---|---|
| The newsroom is fine, the reporting is not | aclipp |
| You want the same shape with published pricing | Prezly |
| You publish in several languages and markets | pr.co |
| Approvals and brand governance drive the newsroom | Presspage |
| DACH newsroom pickup is the actual goal | news aktuell and ots |
| You pitch far more often than you publish | Semrush AI PR Toolkit |
| You want monitoring, print, or press reviews separately | Brand24, OBSERVER, Landau Media |
Conclusion
Mynewsdesk is a solid product for a team whose PR runs through published announcements, and the Nordic coverage its plan pages document goes beyond what it offers elsewhere. Three things are worth pricing before you renew: a release allowance that a monthly publishing schedule uses up in April, a monitoring feature list that is broader than what a single country can buy, and analytics on a fixed template.
Take those one at a time. If the release count is the problem, price news aktuell per release against a plan upgrade. If the newsroom is the problem, Prezly publishes its prices, and pr.co publishes plan structure and limits while quoting the amount. If the monitoring is the problem, buy it from someone whose coverage matches your market.
And if the reporting is the problem, that is the one thing on this list aclipp does for a published price.
